WHO WE ARE

Hello & Welcome to Water Wise

Thank you for showing up, to learn about our love of water and our passion for raising awareness and taking action on behalf of our fresh waterways.

I love to explore and play in the refreshing crystal clear waters of Lake Superior.  I have seen changes that cloud her beauty and want clear, clean water for all peoples.”

I want to dive off the dock at my camp on Lake Huron, on a hot Summer’s day, to drink clean fresh water, and for my children and countless generations, to do the same.”

WHO ARE WE

Water Wise is a diverse Network of Freshwater Advocates, amplifying voices and choices for nibi (water in Ojibwe).

We aim to empower people through storytelling, indigenous knowledge, culture, science, and research, as agents of restorative change, through engaging challenges, with an annual storytelling challenge for World Water Day.

OUR MISSION

To share stories of wisdom that engage action and connection to protect, advocate, celebrate, and restore freshwater - OUR living source of life.

OUR VISION

Healthy, clean, clear water - now and generations to come.

Our Values

Our values represent freshwater - Gaia’s (Mother Earth’s) bloodlines and spirit which represent our veins and spirit.
These values represent Freshwater and the Great Lakes Spirit.

Here’s How We Flow

  • Equanimity - Establish equal ground with all people and organizations (not above, not below) to collaborate and co-facilitate clean water movements.  Collective conscious connections.

  • Transparency - Bring clarity, authentic actions and reveal the truth (veracious)

  • Refresh + Revive - Cleanse, transform and promote healing ways.  Let our actions ripple awareness, and wisdom, renewing energy, and positive changes.

  • Rhythm - A time and place for purposeful action that is balanced and holistic.  Spontaneous and dynamic (ever-changing), playful and fun, calm and still, reflective mirror, or velocity and powerful.

  • Flow - An openness to ideas, creating dynamic change, and in tune with the nature of the lakes.

  • Spirited - Passionate, meaningful, energy-free spirit connecting fully to the gift of these Great Lakes (speaks to the spirit/soul).

  • Force of Nature - Can carve paths through rock-solid surfaces, changing shorelines (in terms of the mind shift we speak of).

  • Freedom and Peace - All peoples have access to clean freshwater, peacefully.

For what are we, without water?

We are grateful that you showed up, at our dock.
